After writing historical fiction under the name of Lorna Cook (The Dressmaker's Secret), the British author turns to romance with her latest novel. Hannah's life takes an unexpected turn when she receives a wrong number call from Davey, an American who intended to call the London architecture firm where he hopes to work. The wrong number leads to flirty banter, which leads to video calls and eventually video dates and plans to meet when Davey moves to London. It all comes so easily, but on Davey's moving date, he's nowhere to be found. Their next call leaves Hannah reeling and their unconventional relationship on hold. They face additional challenges and eventually move forward in new relationships, although neither can entirely forget the other. Romantics will read with hearts in throats to see if the star-crossed couple is fated after all. VERDICT Full of highly effective yearning, this heart-wrenching and bittersweet story of love out-of-reach will have special appeal to fans of angst-filled romance and could also draw in fans of relationship fiction focused on bigger issues of illness and self-actualization.--Meagan Day
